Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) And Workers Compensation
The Chicago Transit Authority, provides public transportation service to all of Chicago and 35 suburbs. The CTA operates over 1700 buses and approximately 1200 rail cars. Each day, CTA buses travel over 145,000 miles and over 177,00 rail miles. Each of these buses and trains are operated by over 9,000 Chicago Transit Authority employees. Being a bus and train operator can be a dangerous job. From congested streets, to inclement weather to dealing with difficult passengers…all of these issues pose a unique threat to the physical well-being of a CTA operator.

So what happens when a CTA employee is injured in an accident at work? They are thrown into an adversarial system and forced to deal with CTA adjusters whose sole responsibility is to limit the amount of benefits they receive under the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act. By sending them to the company doctor, placing them in the “Sick Book” instead of “injured on duty (IOD”) or just simply withholding their lost wage benefits, the Chicago Transit Authority makes it difficult for the CTA employee to exercise their right to receive Illinois Workers’ Compensation benefits.
For over 40 years, Donald W. Fohrman & Associates, Ltd., has been representing Chicago Transit Authority workers who have been injured on-the-job. We understand the difficulties an injured CTA employee has when dealing with CTA company adjusters and their company doctors. We have extensive experience in dealing with the CTA and can guide them through the legal and practical problems associated with dealing with the Chicago Transit Authority.
In addition to representing CTA bus and rail operators, we have represented CTA bus and rail mechanics, CTA linemen, CTA heavy equipment operators and all Pace employees.
If you are a CTA employee and you have been injured-on-the job, contact our office at 800-437-2571 for a free, confidential, no obligation consultation or use the Free Case Evaluation form on our web site. We will fight to get you the benefits you deserve and ensure that your rights are protected under the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act.
