CBS Chicago reports that an Edgewater man was recently killed when he was struck by a speeding car, pinning his body between the offending vehicle and his own car. According to witnesses, the driver of the car sped through a red light on a busy street and then attempted to swerve around a bus, striking the elderly man as he put groceries in the trunk of his car, which was legally parked on the side of the road. The car was going so fast that it proceeded to crash into three more vehicles that were parked directly ahead of the old man’s car. Five other pedestrians were also injured in the accident.
