ILLINOIS WORKERS’ COMPENSATION COVID 19 EMERGENCY RULE

On April 13, 2020, the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Commission (IWCC) enacted an emergency rule which is designed to protect essential employees should they become ill with COVID 19. The rule creates a “rebuttable presumption” that if an essential employee contracts COVID 19, the contraction occurred during-the-course of his or her employment.

Two women in Illinois were recently charged with one count of illegal videotaping and one count of aggravated battery of a person older than 60 after recording themselves hitting an elderly woman who suffered from dementia. According to the Chicago Tribune, the two women reportedly laughed while they engaged in the abuse and then later showed the video to their friends.

A Taylorville man was recently charged with a DUI and driving with a revoked license after he rolled his vehicle in a one-car accident on Route 104. The two passengers in his car were severely injured and treated at nearby hospitals, while the driver reported no injuries.
